The Ministry of Budget and State Owned Entites has decided to improve access for all to information and data on public financial management in Côte d'Ivoire. Thus, an English version of the Ministry's website was launched on Thursday, August 4th, 2022.
After a brief presentation of the English version of the website, the Minister of Budget and State Owned Entites, Moussa Sanogo, indicated that from now on all the information put online will be translated into English, for economic operators, technical and financial partners or investors for whom language was a barrier.
These economic operators, most of whom speak English, the most widely spoken language in the world, will now have direct access to useful basic information on the Ivorian economy and public finance management.
This innovation, which is a first for a public service in Côte d'Ivoire, is important because free access to information and public documents is now an indicator that international rating agencies take into account when evaluating the governance of countries.
With this bilingual digital window on the world, the Ministry is working to increase the transparency and the quality of governance, thus consolidating the attractiveness and competitiveness of the national economy.
Moussa Sanogo believes that beyond the business opportunities presented to him, any investor looks at the quality of macro-economic management of the country he is interested in, that is to say the level of the country's fiscal deficit, the growth rate, the current account deficit, etc.
The Minister insisted on the fact that if Côte d'Ivoire wishes that investors come to accompany it in the movement of creation of wealth, it is necessary that the public services put all this information at their disposal.
Moussa Sanogo has committed the agents of the Ministry to put the two versions (french and english) of the site at the same level.
The quality of the work of the Ivorian economic and financial administration must be recognized internationally and the translation of the website into English should contribute to this. In this sense, the Minister has committed the general directorates of the ministry to make their websites bilingual.
The Minister took the opportunity to congratulate all the agents for the quality of their work which earned the Ministry the first prize of the best public information access organization at the end of the first two editions (in 2019, 2020-2021) of the monitoring of websites of public organizations, initiated by the Commission for Access to Information of Public Interest and Public Documents (CAIDP).
